This seedlings will be full size, standard apple trees, and the genetic makeup of them will be unknown, other than the 50% parentage from the 'Frostbite' seed parent, due to these being open pollinated. We would rank Contender right behind Siberian C in terms of hardiness (although still a decent bit less hardy than Siberian C which we would put around -38F)

Hand this to someone who thinks crabapples are too tart or ornamental

later blooming (helpful for dodging spring frosts)

or much shorter if summer pruned
